Contracting direct with a large org as a limited company

I've been offered a contract and the client company has asked me to contract direct (not via an agency). What are the minimum documents I need in place e.g. statement of works, a signed purchase order, etc. I am advised they do this for many other contractors. Do I need any official, legally approved contract?
